Wild for Birds Art Show Opening Reception March 6, 1-3pm

When I heard the news that I would be having my own show at the Audubon Society of Rhode Island’s Environmental Education Center in Bristol RI for the months of March and April I was overwhelmed with excitement, and then the panic and fear set in.   This was such a huge honor, and something I have dreamed of since starting this photographic journey.   I can do this… Mom would be so proud and it’s because of her that I have been able to see and capture such incredible things.   As I write this I am looking around at the numerous bags of frames & matting, as well as prints already disposed of because they simply aren’t good enough.  A large room to fill with as many as 26-100 pieces… I can do this.

What to choose out of thousands of images, hours logged & trips taken?  After already having spent weeks piling through external hard drives in search of the perfect shots I am finding that I have a lot that are truly unworthy of being hung on a wall for display.  On the positive side a theme is developing and I’m beginning to understand what I’m all about as an artist.  I am a Real Estate Agent.  “Artist” never occurred to me prior to witnessing myself throw away work which would be acceptable on many levels, and I know that doesn’t make sense – unless you are an artist.   To be comfortable with the style I am forming and the direction I’m heading into is incredible progress for this indecisive woman.  Now she is seeing the light!

Opening reception is on March 6th 1-3pm.  Admission fee is simply your presence.  I’d love for you to join me, and I hope you will enjoy what I was inspired to commit to on photo paper, as well as metal prints & canvas.  Thanks as always for your continued support of my work.  You truly keep me inspired to learn more and improve. 🙂

Cheers!

Heidi

  1. This is going to be a wonderful show, Heidi! In addition to impressive technical skills, you’ve developed such a fine artistic sense and presence, which shine through your work. Keep being true to your own vision and trust your own instincts. They’re both very sound. Congratulations on the show! Can’t wait to see it.

    1. Pat, how lucky I am to have you as my talented cheerleading friend. Your photography shows have inspired me as I watched you prepare (in agony, and now I get it!). Thank you, as always, for your amazing love and support! xo
